An National Colour Scheme and Familiar Emblem

The new livery incorporates a red, white and blue design to reflect the Union Flag and will be applied on rolling stock, at stations, and across its digital platforms.

Significantly, the logo is the well-known twin-arrow design currently used by the national rail network and previously created in the 1960s for British Rail.

The Implementation Timeline

The introduction of the design, which was created in-house, is expected to happen in phases.

Passengers are set to begin spotting the freshly-liveried services across the UK rail network from spring next year.

During December, the visuals will be showcased at prominent railway stations, including Leeds City.

A Path to Public Ownership

The proposed law, which will allow the establishment of Great British Railways, is presently making its way through the legislative process.

The administration has said it is taking control of the railways so the network is "owned by the people, working for the passengers, not for corporate interests."

GBR will consolidate the running of train services and infrastructure under a single organisation.

The department has claimed it will unify 17 various organisations and "reduce the problematic red tape and poor accountability that has long affected the railways."

App-Based Services and Existing Ownership

The launch of GBR will also feature a comprehensive mobile application, which will enable users to see timetables and reserve journeys without surcharges.

Accessibility users will also be have the option to use the app to arrange assistance.

A number of franchises had already been taken into public control under the previous government, such as Northern.

There are currently 7 operating companies already in public control, representing about a third of rail travel.

In the past year, c2c have been nationalised, with further franchises anticipated to follow in the coming years.

Official and Industry Reaction

"The new design is not simply a cosmetic change," stated the relevant minister. It signifies "a transformed service, leaving behind the problems of the previous system and focused solely on delivering a proper public service."

Industry leaders have acknowledged the pledge to improving the passenger experience.

"We will carry on to collaborate with industry partners to facilitate a successful transition to the new system," a representative added.
