Spurs Manager Thomas Frank Labels Goalkeeper Booers 'Not Real Fans'

Fulham Begin Powerfully to Beat Spurs and Raise Pressure on the Manager

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who booed goalkeeper Vicario were told later "they can't be true Tottenham supporters" by manager Frank.

Spurs conceded two scores in the opening six minutes to lose 2-1 to Fulham, registering their tenth top-flight at home loss of 2025.

But the primary talking point was Fulham's second score when the keeper lost the ball far beyond his area.

He came out to deal with a long ball and carried the ball towards the sideline.

But, instead of kicking it into touch, the Italian spun and tried to clear away, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.

King passed the ball off to Wales midfield player Harry Wilson, who curled a shot into the net from the touchline measured at thirty-six point six yards.

Seconds later when the ball went to Vicario again, some Tottenham fans booed him.

Spurs were booed off at half-time, with the side 2-0 down, and again at the final whistle.

A particular of those booing episodes really angered Frank.

"It came to my attention some of our supporters reportedly jeered the situation and jeered following, which, in my opinion is totally unacceptable," the Danish manager stated regarding the supporters' response to his shot-stopper.

"[They] cannot be true Tottenham supporters that do that. Fair enough jeering following the game, no problem, but when we are playing, we are backing one another, we are with one another going forward."

Kenny Tete had given the visitors a fourth-minute advantage prior to Wilson's strike – with Kudus scoring for Spurs in an improved second-half performance.

Former top-flight goalkeeper Joe Hart stated that the second score was "completely preventable".

"I do understand the supporters' frustration," Hart continued. "I am aware the role the keeper is playing. He is a great team player, he is a real figure in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your actions.

"The keeper was deeply implicated in what turned out to be the decisive goal."

'It is In the Game, I Can Handle It'

Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Vicario After the Match

Italy national team the keeper is in his third campaign with Spurs.

The 29-year-old stated after the game that he had to accept the criticism.

"The second goal was a error of my own, I accept accountability for it," he said.

"The intent was to clear the ball long and I just hit the ball in a poor manner. It was an more difficult challenge to overcome."

He stated receiving jeers "comes with football".

"I am mature, how can I respond?" he added. "The team cannot be affected by the situation in the crowd. Supporters have the right to do as they see fit.

"It is on us to stay more composed, to focus on our own performance. The team is lacking in calmness and calmness to overturn results. Today is a bad defeat and it's hard to take."

'I Was Surprised No One Went Back to the Line'

Despite Vicario's error, it was far from an easy goal for Harry Wilson to score.

In fact it was the next most distant Premier League score of the season – following Tyler Adams' 43.3 yard strike for the Cherries against Sunderland, which incidentally too occurred on the same day.

Wilson said he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an open net to aim for.

10 moments passed between Vicario exiting of his box and the midfielder shooting – which was 5 moments after the clearance.

"It seemed to me like the keeper was away from the box for a long time," Wilson said.

"It amazed me none of the defenders went back to the line. When none of them covered the goal, my eyes sparked a bit.

"[Destiny] Udogie fell too, which allowed me a little extra opportunity. Then it was all about trying to achieve the right connection and get it towards goal. I had a good feeling, as soon as it came off my boot, that it was heading in."

'During in a Bad Spell, All Appears to Go Against You'

Booing While We Are Still Playing Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank

While the keeper's error dominated headlines, this was an all-round poor performance for Tottenham to continue their home ground woes.

This was their 10th at home loss of 2025 in the league, a shared club statistic matching nineteen ninety-four and 2003.

The side still have home fixtures against Frank's former club the Bees and title holders the Reds to play prior to the close of the season.

Just a single of those wins have come since Frank took over from his predecessor in the off-season.

"When you're down 2-0 after the opening, there is a mountain to overcome," stated the boss.

"During in a poor run, all aspects appears to work against you as well – the first was a redirected shot, the second is a mistake from the keeper.

"This result leaves us in a position where we have suffered another match. Each fixture has a unique story, today we lost in the early stages.

"We just need to continue striving. The later period was much better and with luck an aspect we can utilize to develop."

Spurs have lost 4 consecutive home capital clashes for the first time in the top division.

And they are averaging nine point five attempts and three point two efforts on goal per match in the division – their lowest rates on file in a single season (since at least 2003-04).

Ex- Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy stated that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He's got accept the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He has taken a prestigious role at a major football club with enormous expectation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that comes with that.

"The performances at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
