Dominant Sabalenka Claims Consecutive WTA Player of the Year Accolades.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive year.
The 27-year-old won four tournament victories – the most on tour – including retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.
A Year of High Performance
Across the season, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine finals, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The Belarusian also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the whole season as the world number one, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.
In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Record-Breaking Numbers
Sabalenka finished the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and earned a record ÂŁ11m in prize money.
She garnered almost 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a new level".
Other WTA Award Honorees
- Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, received the award after taking a extended hiatus following the arrival of her daughter and returning to the sport earlier this season.
- Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after starting the season positioned outside the world's top 300 and soaring to the eighteenth spot.
- Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after capturing their second career Grand Slam title as a pair.
- Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after advancing to five championship matches.
Last week, Carlos Alcaraz took home three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third time.
